Brush my Blush

Kat Von D sure knows how to make me open my wallet.

The Alchemist Holographic palette is probably one of my favorite products of all time.

7 years in the making and inspired by the transforming concept of alchemy, this palette is really eclectic.

It contains 4 highlighters that can be used in many different ways, solo or as a topcoat on eyeshadows and lipsticks.

The shades are:
  • Emerald: a light green
  • Saphyre: a neon blue
  • Amethyst: a violet
  • Opal: a pink
Each one of them contains refractive pearls in a prismatic coating that make them extra shining.

I tried them on a lot of eyeshadows and I noticed that I get the best results on dark mattes. On the contrary they are barely visible on white eyeshadows. You get a different shade basing on the eyeshadow that you choose as base.

Once applied they are very pigmented and last for several hours even without an eyeshadow primer. They can be used solo in the inner corner of the eye to highlight.

I noticed that black eyeliner is also a great choice for the Alchemist Holographic Palette, making the colors pop.

To highlight my cheekbones I usually go with Opal or Amethyst, that give an original but not too crazy glow to the face.

These highlighters can make any matte liquid lipstick the protagonist of the look; just pat them over to create a beautiful ombrè effect or completely change the color!

Kat Von D is an advocate for animal rights so of course the palette is cruelty free.

Why should you buy it?
  • Blends like heaven
  • No fallout
  • Can transform any look
  • Long wearing
  • Beautiful packaging
What are the cons?
  • I wish it had more shades

Each highlighter contains 1.53g / 0.05oz of product. The PAO is 12 months. The price for this beauty is $32; it may seem expensive for 4 highlighters but I can assure you that you'll end up applying them all over your face!
